A light snow could fall across Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois this week, but the National Weather Service said the snow probably won't produce any significant accumulation.
The weather service's Paducah, Ky., office put out a statement early Monday morning warning of the chance of snow across the area, and possibly some sleet and freezing rain in southern regions, starting today and lasting through Thursday.
For Southeast Missouri the greatest chance for winter precipitation starts Wednesday night and continues into Thursday night.
However, the weather service says if there's any accumulation, it will be very little.
Today's forecast calls for a high around 39 degrees, with winds sustained between 15 and 20 miles per hour and gusting as high as 30 miles per hour.
Tonight the winds will calm down, with a low around 18. Tomorrow winds will continue to diminish, with a high near 40 and some sunshine.
On Sunday, winds gusted to 48 miles per hour at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, and at similar speeds across the area. The winds caused some problems for utility crews trying to restore power after last week's ice storm. Winds also caused more outages in areas where power was already restored.
