Six students from Southeast Missouri State University recently attended a leadership forum on faith and values in Jefferson City, Mo.

The students were Ross McFerron of Advance, Mo.; Joel McDaniel of St. Louis County; Daniel Pattengill of Park Hills, Mo.; Brian Privett of Kennett, Mo.; Elizabeth Vaughn of Belleville, Ill.; and Emily Wahlman of DuPont, Ind.

Each student was required to have at least a 2.5 grade-point average and had to be at least a sophomore or junior.

The students gathered to discuss how a strong faith and value system can impact their lives. Leaders from business, sports, the arts and public service are invited to attend and participate in the program.

Gov. Bob Holden spoke to the students last Tuesday. During an afternoon session, Stephen Limbaugh, chief justice of the Missouri Supreme Court, addressed the students.

Other speakers during the two-day forum included Rep. Rod Jetton of Marble Hill, Mo., and U.S. Rep. Ike Skelton, D-Mo. Students also completed a community service project during the gathering.

The forum concluded with the Governor's Prayer Breakfast Thursday.

The Governor's Student Leadership Forum began 16 years ago and is patterned after similar events held in 20 states. This year's forum included 75 students and 20 adult leaders.
