Two people were shot at and several people were involved in fights Saturday night and Sunday that led to six arrests by Cape Girardeau.
Two men told police they were standing in the 300 block of Good Hope Street about 11 p.m. Saturday when they were approached by three men coming from the 400 block. One of the three told a victim he had made a mistake, and then pulled out what was described as a Magnum revolver.
The victims ran, and shots were fired. Police said two shots were reported, but the victims were uncertain about the number.
One of the victims ran inside the Taste Restaurant and Lounge at 402 Good Hope St. The other continued to Lorimier Street where he eluded the attackers.
Police discovered a bullet had been shot through the rear window of a 1985 Chevrolet Nova that belongs to one of the victims.
About 2 a.m., patrolman Paul Tipler stopped three men for a traffic violation. They were identified as suspects in the shooting incident.
Arrested were Omar Terrel Johnson, 20, of 406 N. Spanish St.; Elbridge Stephan Robinson, 19, of 533 S. Middle St.; and Anthony Demone Johnson, 19, of 203 S. Middle St., Apt. A.
All three were charged with armed criminal action, two counts of assault, unlawful use of a weapon and property damage.
A second incident at 12:27 a.m. on Sunday at the Taste Restaurant when two people reported being hit in the face by a man.
In the incident, police arrested Jeremy Nelson, 29, of 518 S. Pacific St. He was charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault and property damage. There was also a warrant for Nelson's arrest involving dangerous drugs, police said.
Nelson's victims were charged for attacking him. Erica Criddle, 21, of 6 S. Henderson St., Apt. B, was charged with assault and property damage. Travon Moore, 21, of 1820 N. Main St., was charged with first-degree assault, property damage and third-degree assault.
The victims had struck Nelson with beer bottles, resulting in gashes to his head and arms.
Moore was involved in a third incident at the Taste that police responded to at 1:10 a.m. Sunday. He and Sulaymon K. Moore, 6 S. Henderson, attacked a man, with the victim suffering injuries to his tongue, lips and mouth. Police said the man might require surgery.
Sulaymon Moore was charged with first-degree assault, third-degree assault and property damage.
