Eric Ballard, 21, was driving westbound on Highway 34 about four miles east of Marble Hill when the crash happened, the patrol reported. He and his passenger, Susan Ballard, 19, were taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

The accident occurred when the Ballards' 1988 Plymouth ran off the roadway and overturned, the patrol reported.
