Single-car accident leaves two dead

Emergency personnel were called to the scene of a single-car accident Monday night which left two motorists dead and two others injured.

The accident was reported just before midnight Monday in the 2000 block of Big Bend Road on the north side of Cape Girardeau.

Upon arriving at the scene rescue personnel found a late-model Pontiac Firebird with four occupants. The heavily-damaged vehicle carried temporary license tags from Illinois.

Two males and two females occupied the vehicle. One male and one female were killed in the accident; the others were taken by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau hospital.
