SIKESTON -- A juvenile remained in critical condition following a shooting that appeared to be the result of playing, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety said.
The incident occurred inside the residence at 210 Clayton St. at about 2:23 a.m. Sunday.
One person was being sought in connection with the shooting, which resulted in a 14-year-old male being shot once in the side of the head.
Det. Sgt. Mark Crocker said a witness reported only one shot being fired. The bullet apparently went through the first victim's head and landed in the arm of Michael Barnhill, 22. He was treated at Missouri Delta Medical Center and released.
The juvenile victim was transferred from the center to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where he was reported in critical condition.
Crocker said the gun was removed from the scene. A witness reported that it was a revolver.
The circumstances of the incident are unclear, but Crocker said it appeared "they were playing."
