SIKESTON, Mo. — A Cape Girardeau man is accused of illegally possessing a firearm after a brief foot pursuit with police Tuesday in Sikeston.
Shamar A. Lowe, 18, is charged with felony unlawful possession of a firearm and felony resisting arrest/detention/stop by fleeing, according to online court records.
At 10:03 a.m. Tuesday, officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety went to the 800 block of William Street about a foot pursuit, according to police reports. Sikeston officers were trying to identify some people on Mary Street, and a detective noticed one of them put his hand in his hoodie pocket and appeared to hold something.
The officer stopped the vehicle ahead of where the people were walking, and the man with his hand in the hoodie began to run toward William Street, where he was apprehended by police. A .380 pistol fell out of the man’s hoodie pocket; he was later identified as Lowe.
Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.
