Sikeston man pleads guilty to drug charges

A Sikeston, Mo., man pleaded guilty to drug charges in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau on Monday.

Tommy K. Turner, 31, pleaded guilty to one felony count of distribution of cocaine base and one felony count of possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of cocaine base.

On Jan. 10, Turner had reportedly sold 0.37 grams of crack cocaine to an informant for the Missouri State Highway Patrol and a SEMO Drug Task Force agent at Haywood City, Mo.

Turner was then pulled over by a Sikeston police officer, who discovered a baggie containing 27.3 grams of crack cocaine that Turner tried to discard while being arrested. Turner admitted he intended to sell the crack cocaine.

Turner is now facing up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine on the felony distribution count and up to 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine on the felony possession with intent to distribute count.
