A Sikeston man was killed and another injured in an early morning accident near Gray Ridge.
Michael Shane Robison, 21, of Sikeston was killed when the vehicle he was riding in overturned. Jeffrey Archie, 24, of Sikeston was injured, and was taken to the intensive care unit of Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston.
The one-vehicle accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. on Highway 60 about one mile east of Gray Ridge. The car, driven by Archie, was traveling at a high speed when it ran off the road, overturned and struck a utility pole, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.
Neither Robison nor Archie were wearing seat belts, said a spokesman for the patrol.
Robison became the 60th fatality this year within the patrol's Troop E of Southeast Missouri. One year ago 62 people had died in accidents on Southeast Missouri roads.
