SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Downtown Car Show and Ice Cream Social at Malone Park in Sikeston provides opportunity to see collectible cars and entertains kids at the same time, according to the Standard Democrat. "It's a family friendly environment," said Kim Robinson, executive director of the Historic Midtown Development Group, the association running the event. "There's something for everyone to do." During the show, there will be bubble blowing and hula hoop contests for them to participate in. Car or bike owners can enter vehicles into one of the show's five categories, according to Robinson. The categories are antiques, street rods, trucks, bikes and military vehicles. More than 100 vehicles were entered in the contest last year, she added. Several concession stands will be at the event. Lulu's Southern Soul Barbeque will be present, in addition to various other stands offering food such as nachos, snow cones, and ice cream. Those who wants to enter vehicles into the contest, may do so at the event. There is no advance registration, Robinson said. The show will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There is no cost to attend.
