SIKESTON, Mo. -- Officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety are investigating the assault of a cab driver late Sunday night, the Standard Democrat reported.

At 10:52 p.m., an employee with Sikeston City Cab called to report the incident. The driver was called out for a pick-up at Monte Circle and John R. Boulevard. When no one was in the area, the driver honked the horn and then got out of the vehicle to look for the person who called. Then, five men walked up and said they would take the cab.

One of the men then punched the victim in the face, and the five then left in the other direction.

No arrests had been made in connection with the case as of Monday morning.
