Sikeston businessman arrested on sex crime charges

SIKESTON, Mo. -- A Sikeston businessman has been arrested on three sex charges following an investigation of an October incident.

Garry L. Warner, 66, was arrested Wednesday. He has been charged with the felonies of deviate sexual assault, felonious restraint and a misdemeanor charge of sexual misconduct by Paul Boyd, Scott County Prosecuting Attorney.

The arrests result from the statement of a 24-year-old female who said she visited Warner's Premier Motors used car dealership located at 218 E. Center St. Oct. 5 to talk with Warner about buying a car. According to the female, Warner began making unwanted sexual advances toward her during their conversation. She also reported that he locked the front door of the business when she told him she wanted to leave, and said he continued the sexual advances until Warner eventually allowed her to leave a short time later.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety's Criminal Investigative Unit worked on the investigation for almost two months leading up to Wednesday's arrest.

Warner was released from custody after posting a $50,000 cash or surety bond.
