The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service announced Thursday that Missouri landowners who are interested in applying for the Wetlands Reserve Program have until Nov. 30 to sign up.
The program provides technical and financial support to aid in restoring, protecting and enhancing wetlands that have been degraded or converted for agricultural uses.
In 2007, the National Resources Inventory reported that Missouri had 948,600 acres of wetlands, or about 20 percent of Missouri's original 4.8 million acres of wetlands.
