JONESBORO, Ill. -- Ray Sigler is waging a write-in campaign in the 12th Congressional District in Southern Illinois.
Sigler, of Trenton, will discuss his plan for a national park in the immediate Southern Illinois area this week during an appearance at Jonesboro.
"This is the site of the Lincoln-Douglas debates," said Sigler, who will appear at Jonesboro Thursday at 2 p.m. conference.
Sigler will face U.S. Rep. Jerry Costello, D-Belleville, in the November election. Costello is serving his sixth term.
"This campaign won't be easy as a write-in candidate," said Sigler, "I will support or introduce a balanced budget amendment, I will support or introduce a line-item veto amendment, and I will oppose any unnecessary pork-barrel spending in any congressional district."
