STEELE, Mo. -- A man was injured when struck by a shovel during an assault.
Steele Police reported Monday the arrest of a 39-year-old man on charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
Officers went to a residence on North First Street in reference to an assault, according a police report. When they arrived, officers spoke with a 42-year-old Steele resident who had suffered a head injury from being struck with a shovel.
The victim was transported from the scene by ambulance.
The suspect's name is being withheld pending the filing of formal charges by the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney, said Steele police chief Billy Joe Stanfield.
