Cape Girardeaus newest all-day outdoor celebration Shipyard Music Festival Saturday at Ivers Square will provide music performances from nationally touring bands, cuisine from local vendors and special event-specific amenities for ticket holders.
Shipyard representative Jamie Phillips project and event manager for rustmedia, which is presenting the festival said parking Saturday has been a concern since announcement of the event, but it will not be an issue thanks to several modes of public transportation and available parking lots.
Shuttles will run to and from Isle Casino Cape Girardeau, which will have pickup stops at Broadway and Main Street, Independence and Main streets, and at city hall, she said.
We will also be using the Downtown Trolley, Phillips said. It pretty much stops anywhere it sees you. It has eight official spots, but it will also stop wherever you are.
Southeast Missouri State University students are encouraged to take the River Campus route on the Southeast shuttles, Phillips explained, which makes scheduled stops in front of Rust Center for Media on Broadway, the location of the festival.
Street parking and open lots will also be available, she said.
There also will be portable toilets, hand-washing stations, a charging station and hydrating stations throughout the venue, Phillips said.
Were not allowing outside food and drink, but you are allowed to bring in either a refillable water bottle or one bottle of water that is factory sealed, she said.
Saint Francis Healthcare will provide filtered water from its on-site mobile hydration station, Phillips said, along with a first-aid station offering wellness screenings throughout the day.
Food and beverage vendors for the event include Imos Pizza, Lemonade House Grille, Mary Jane Burgers & Brew, Bistro Saffron, Faithfully Fed, Isle Casino, River Eagle and Kohlfeld Distributing.
We also have sponsors that are doing giveaways, Phillips said.
And according to the festivals website, Plaza Tire Service will offer a free on-site racing simulator, along with giveaways throughout the day. Rhodes will let attendees take advantage of a sample version of the companys future loyalty program.
Attendees can bring in strollers, chairs, sunscreen and hats, according to Phillips, but they definitely need to make sure that if theyre planning on drinking, to have a valid ID.
She said ticket holders wouldnt be able to bring in alcohol, food, selfie sticks or pets.
We will have security, so people will get searched and their bags will get searched, she said.
The Shipyard Music Festival takes place rain or shine from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Ivers Square in downtown Cape Girardeau, with the main entrance at the intersection of Broadway and Lorimier Street.
