Two men were arrested last week by the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department and charged with crimes against women.
Robert Shane Burden, 34, of Whitewater was charged with domestic assault, felonious restraint, driving while his license was revoked and property damage. According to a probable-cause statement, on June 9, Burden allegedly prevented his former girlfriend from leaving her car and drove her from Jackson to his mother's home in Whitewater. The victim reported Burden threatened her, her children and his children, and repeatedly assaulted her while driving erratically at excessive speeds.
On Thursday, the victim reported that she agreed to meet Burden to deliver his possessions and during that meeting Burden allegedly damaged her vehicle, including shattering the windshield by punching it. Damage was estimated at $500. Burden is being held at the Cape Girardeau County Jail.
Tyler Dale Doublin, 23, of Shawneetown was charged with forcible sodomy after allegedly sexually assaulting his girlfriend. According to a probable-cause statement, Doublin allegedly punched his girlfriend numerous times in the face, ripped her shorts off and sexually assaulted her while she was, according to Doublin, "messed up on Xanax."
A warrant was issued for Doublin on Wednesday and bond was set at $50,000. He is being held at the Cape Girardeau County Jail. An initial arraignment is set for Monday. Forcible sodomy is a felony punishable by prison terms ranging in length from five years to life.
