CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Issues concerning sewer lines, the construction of a possible subdivision, renewing alcohol licenses and special building permits were the topics of discussion at Monday's Chaffee City Council meeting.

Residents Ronnie Moyers and Doyle Wilison discussed homeowner issues. Moyers spoke about who should pay for sewer issues while he was working with KAJACS Contracting. Wilison brought to the council the issue of unlicensed contractors working in Chaffee, and how it is dangerous to homeowners and how ultimately the city loses money by not monitoring contractors more closely.

The council approved this month's bills, and then approved liquor licenses renewal forms for eight local businesses.

The issue of a special-use permit for Annetha Evans at 111 Frates St. for a bait shop was denied, as was the proposal for the city to pay for utilities at Gill Family Properties for three apartments at Main Street and the railroad crossing. The proposed bills to be paid were $2,880.

The council also discussed with fire chief Sam Glenzy what the city should do in terms of recovering lost funds on fires outside city limits. The council members brought up the fact that outside city limits residents do not pay a fire tax, but still receive the benefits of the Chaffee fire district. The fire council will be drafting proposals for the next meeting.
