Severe thunderstorm watch issued

NORMAN, Okla. — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 300 a.m. for the following Southeast Missouri counties: Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Mississippi, New Madrid, Perry, Ripley, Scott. St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Stoddard and Wayne.

The watch also applies to these southwest Illinois counties: Alexander, Pulaski, Union.

The primary hazards will be damaging winds and large hail. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, according to the National Weather Service.

Spotters may be activated.
