CARUTHERSVILLE -- Two men died in separate incidents in Pemiscot County Saturday.

Dirk Hayes, 18, of Portageville was killed at 4 a.m. when he was struck by a Burlington-Northern train while walking along the railway tracks three miles east of Wardell.

The engineer of the train was Steven Jones, 42, of Blytheville, Ark.

The other accident occurred at 12:45 p.m., a mile east of Caruthersville on I-155.

The collision involved two westbound trucks. The driver of one truck, Perry Malone, 37, of Caruthersville was taken by helicopter to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, where he died.

Malone's truck struck the rear of a truck pulling a trailer. The other driver was not injured.
