It's party time for the region's senior adults Saturday when four area organizations host Senior Fun Fest '99.
The festival begins at 11 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m. May 22 at the Show Me Center. It is free to adults ages 55 and older. Senior Fun Fest is held every other year in May, Older Americans Month.
Built this year around the theme, "It's Your Kind of Party," Senior Fun Fest wil feature a complimentary box lunch, the big band sound of the Jerry Ford Orchestra, bingo with prizes donated by area businesses, senior-oriented exhibits, complimentary photos and more.
Corporate sponsors are Mercantile Bank of Cape Girardeau, Schnucks, the Southeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging and Southeast Missouri Hospital.
CLAS Computers will introduce seniors to the Internet. Mercantile bank will show guests how to go online with banking. Southeast Missouri Hospital's restaurant, "Lacey's on the Hill," will offer cooking demonstrations and samples of heart-healthy fare.
At 1 p.m., the "Hi-Cotton Country Club Western Dancers" will be on the main stage with line and western dances.
Senior Fun Fest was founded in 1984.
