The Cape Girardeau Senior Center has received a grant from the National Association of Meals Programs and Reynolds Metals Co. to provide Thanksgiving meals.
The center will receive $328 toward the cost of its annual holiday meal, said Jo Nelle Lingo, administrator of the center.
The Senior Center has a Thanksgiving dinner the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Lingo said on the center's limited budget they haven't been able to afford holiday dishes like cranberry sauce. "With this money we will be able to serve the special stuff," she said.
Nov. 15 through Thanksgiving, Reynolds Metals Co. will donate 5 cents per product purchased to meal projects when consumers purchase any of eight brand-name products from Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil to Reynolds Plastic Wrap and Reynolds Oven Cooking Bags.
Another aspect of the program will enable grocery retailers that display at least three Reynolds brands to have a donation made by Reynolds in their name to a local meals organization.
