Taking advantage of Southeast Missouri's natural spring beauty and heritage, visitors will be flocking to the region April 21-22 for the 11th annual Mississippi River Valley Scenic Drive.
Launched in 1991, the drive encourages motorists to leave Interstate 55 and peruse many of the small towns that were once on the main path for motorists.
Jackson, Millersville, Burfordville, Marble Hill, Patton, Sedgewickville, Daisy, Oak Ridge, Fruitland, Pocahantas, Old Appleton, Frohna, Apple Creek, Uniontown and Longstown are all among the towns participating. So are Perryville, Brazeau, Cape Girardeau, Scott City, Commerce and Benton.
Individuals, groups, churches or businesses from these communities are invited to participate in the drive. More information may be obtained by calling Dixie Burnett at )573) 266-8688, to be included in the brochure for the event. Deadline for being in the brochure is Tuesday, Feb. 20.
A meeting will be held today from 1-3 p.m. at the Johnson Faculty Center on the Southeast Missouri State University campus. Interested parties are invited to attend.
