Senate sees post office renaming bill

U.S. Senators Jim Talent and Christopher "Kit" Bond, both Republicans, on Wednesday introduced a bill to name the U.S. Mail Processing and Distribution Facility in Cape Girardeau after Pfc. Richard Wilson who was killed in action in Korea in 1951 at the age of 19 when his unit came under attack.

In April, U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Cape Girardeau, moved similar legislation through the House of Representatives.

Also included in the Senate bill was a second resolution to name the U.S. Post Office in Laclede, Mo., for Gen. John Pershing, who was appointed commander of the American Expeditionary Forces after the United States entered World War I. He later became Chief of Staff of the Army, and retired after more than 40 years.
