A Southeast Missouri State University student suffered a head injury Monday afternoon after he and a friend, traveling on mo-peds, collided.
The accident occurred just off campus around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Illinois Avenue and New Madrid Street in Cape Girardeau. The student, a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, according to Cape Girardeau police, was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center.
Officer Jon Jensen said the students were traveling west on New Madrid Street and at the bottom of the hill near Illinois Avenue the uninjured man clipped the back of his friend's mo-ped. The injured student told police the mo-ped fell on top of him after the accident.
Traffic was blocked in the area for about 30 minutes.
