Nominations for the annual Davis-Barnett drama awards have been announced by the Southeast Missouri State University Theatre staff; the awards will be presented Saturday night at the annual Black Mask-University Players banquet, to be held at Drury Lodge.

Awards and nominees are:

Best Actress in a Supporting Role -- Kira Birr as the wife, and Amy Monfort as Maire, in "Never in My Lifetime"; Amy Diebold as Margery and Kym Huff as Teale, in "Zara Spook"; Heather Lewis as Mrs. Wormwood and Tina Schaefer as Miss Trunchbull, in "Matilda"; and Leslie Stevens as Mme. Matroppo, in "Very Good Eddie."

Best Actor in a Supporting Role -- Dan Akre as the Steward and as Al Cleveland; Alden Field as M. de Rougemont; and Marty Stromeyer as Dustin Stacks, all in "Very Good Eddie"; Akre as Mel, in "Zara Spook"; and Strohmeyer as Mr. Wormwood, in "Matilda."

Outstanding Service on a Single Production -- Scott Hamann for directing and designing, and Patrick Rebman for set construction, "Never in My Lifetime"; Brandon Nielson for stage managing and Amy Stenson for assistant directing, "Zara Spook"; Subrina Robinson for assistant directing and acting in "Matilda"; Stenson for properties and Stevens for make-up, "Very Good Eddie."

Outstanding Service for an Entire Season -- Diana Mays and Stenson.

Best Actress in a Leading Role -- Jennifer Dau as Matilda, in "Matilda"; Susan Essner as Elsie Darling, in "Very Good Eddie"; and Heather Lewis as Ramona, in "Zara Spook."

Best Actor in a Leading Role -- Bob Clubbs as Talmadge, in "Zara Spook"; Alden Field as Tom, in "Never in My lifetime"; and George Kralemann as Eddie Kettle, in "Very Good Eddie."

The Davis-Barnett Awards were established by two Cape Girardeau business women, Jane Barnett and the late Elaine "Tommie" Davis. Nominations are not announced for the Unsung Hero Award, which is part of the annual Davis-Barnett series.

Two other awards, for which nominations are also not announced, are not given annually; they are the Critic's Award for outstanding work during an entire college career, and the Career Acting Award.
