A post-baccalaureate achievement program at Southeast Missouri State University has been awarded a five-year $1.1 million federal grant.
The university's McNair Scholars Program is one of seven federal TRIO programs and prepares first-generation, limited-income and underrepresented students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other activities, according to a university news release.
The program began at the university in 2003.
The university plans to use the grant to continue the work of the program and expand the program's scope to include a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics majors.
