A new book of essays, poems and photographs of veterans -- published by the Southeast Missouri State University Press -- will be released on Veterans Day, which is Sunday. The book, "Proud to Be: Writing by American Warriors," features four local veterans, who contributed to the project: Levi Bollinger, Larry Breeze, Aaron Horrell and Nicholas Watts-Fernandez. "Proud to Be" contains essays, stories, poems and photographs from 61 contributors from across the nation. The book was published by the university in partnership with Missouri Humanities Council and Warrior Arts Alliance. "Proud to Be" is the first volume in an annual series and is edited by Southeast Press director Dr. Susan Swartwout.
