Anita Eby, admissions counselor at Southeast Missouri State University, has been named the school's director of alumni services.
Eby will replace Jane Stacy, who was promoted last fall to the position of director of development. Eby will assume her new duties in May.
She will report to Stacy and Wayne Davenport, vice president for university advancement.
"I am very excited about the position," she said. "I think this is a great opportunity for me and the university."
A native of New Madrid, Eby has been associated with Southeast for the past decade, both as a student and employee. She earned her master's degree in human-resource administration last year and her bachelor of science degree in interdisciplinary studies in 1992, both from Southeast.
"She brings so much to the position," Stacy said. "As a student she was active in the Homecoming Steering Committee. She's been very active in the Alumni Association.
"She understands the area we serve and has many connections here," Stacy said.
Davenport said Eby's ties to the university and her roots in Southeast Missouri make her a logical choice.
"With Anita's background in admissions, and as an active student on the Southeast campus, we think she is going to go a long way toward enhancing the advancement division and taking our alumni endeavors to a new level," he said.
In addition to serving as an admissions counselor, Eby has been a coordinator of student ambassadors and tours, the Pre-Admission Education Program, the Preparatory Academy and the Merit Scholarship Program.
She also served as a graduate intern in Southeast's telecounseling programs and as a graduate assistant for Campus Activities-Greek Life.
As director of alumni services, Eby will oversee all alumni activities.
Eby's husband, Larry, is a 1991 graduate of Southeast. He is director of administrative operations for Galaxy Cablevision in Sikeston.
