Administrators at Southeast Missouri State University and Friedrich-Schiller-Universitat Jena of Jena, Germany, have completed a direct exchange agreement.
The agreement will allow Southeast students to attend the German university while paying Southeast's incidental fees.
The agreement was signed in mid-April by Dr. Juergen Hendrich of FSU, and by Dr. Dale F. Nitzschke, Southeast president; Dr. Charles E. Kupchella, Southeast provost; and Dr. Martin M. Jones, Southeast's dean of the College of Liberal Arts.
A Southeast/German relationship began in 1994 when Clinton Wunderlich, a Cape Girardeau businessman, brought a guest speaker to the University. The speaker, Dr. Gerhard Hempel, gave a presentation on the German university system to faculty and students.
Hempel suggested the German university and Southeast develop the exchange program.
