Southeast Missouri State University has awarded several scholarships to area students for the 1997-98 academic year.
Kelly Fisher of Cape Girardeau has been awarded a President's Scholarship and Missouri Leadership Award. She will be a 1997 graduate Notre Dame High School and is the daughter of Robert and Linda Fisher.
Brandi Loucks of Chaffee has been awarded the Regents' Scholarship. She will be a 1997 graduate of Chaffee High School and is the daughter of Danny and Joyce Loucks.
Brandy Bridwell of Scott City has been awarded a Missouri Leadership Award. She will be a 1997 graduate of Scott City High School and is the daughter of Debbie and Rulen Knox.
Jody Below of Delta has been awarded a President's Scholarship. She will be a 1997 graduate of Delta High School and is the daughter of Johnny and Co-Ann Below.
The President's Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who score 24 on the Enhanced ACT or 1,110 on the SAT. Recipients must rank in the upper 20 percent of their high school class or achieve a high school grade-point average of 3.5. The scholarship is also awarded to students who are their class valedictorian and score 21 on the Enhanced ACT or 990 on the SAT, and to National Merit Commended Students. The scholarship is worth $1,500 per academic year.
The Missouri Leadership Award is a one-year award of $500 designed for Missouri students who have demonstrated leadership, scholarship and involvement. Students received the scholarship must have achieved a 3.0 grade-point average.
The Regents' Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have achieved an Enhanced ACT score of 27 or SAT score of 1,220. Students must also have a high school grade-point average of 3.5 or graduate in the top 10 percent of their class. High school valedictorians who have an Enhanced ACT score of 25 or SAT score of 1,140 also are eligible for the scholarship, as are National Merit semifinalists and National Achievement semifinalists. The award covers incidental fees up to 32 hours per academic year for up to four consecutive years.
