How a positive personal life impacts work life is the topic for "Personal Blueprint: Choosing to Expand," a seminar sponsored by Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Scheduled to be held Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Drury Lodge, the seminar should appeal to paraprofessionals and others who provide support services to licensed professionals.

"When a positive personal life is achieved, a proficient atmosphere at work is generated," said Susan L. Selson, nursing support services educator and chairman of the seminar planning committee. "This program is designed to provide a blueprint for building and improving one's image."

Seminar participants, Selsor said, will learn how to improve organizational strategies and learn time-saving techniques; better manage financial resources; make the most of appearance; maintain self-esteem; and strengthen communication and personal relationships.

Morning speakers and their topics include "Handling the Paper Avalanche," by Southeast Missouri Hospital Personnel Director Debbie Bowers; "Financial Philosophies," Edward P. Gargas and Joe McKeon, special agents with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.; and "Focus on Public Appearance," Debbie McCallister and Linda Springs, certified image consultants with JCPenney.

During the afternoon, McCallister and Springs will continue their personal appearance presentation. They will be followed by Barb McKeon, Southeast Missouri Hospital nurse counselor, whose topic is "Who's in Charge? Take a Look at Yourself First." The last formal presentation of the day will be "Communication and Relationships," by Shelba Branscum, associate professor, department of human environmental studies, Southeast Missouri State University.
