James Evans, a professor in the department of quantitative analysis-information systems of the College of Business Administration at the University of Cincinnati, will be seminar leader during a "Statistical Process Control for Quality Improvement" workshop in May.
The seminar is scheduled May 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University Center at Southeast Missouri State University.
"The workshop is designed for people who are responsible for improving quality and productivity in an organization," said Ike Ehie of the department of management, College of Business Administration, at Southeast. "Participants will have an opportunity to receive in-depth and practical training in basic statistical concepts and methods necessary to understand and implement statistical process control.
Evans holds an appointment as adjunct professor of industrial engineering, has bachelor of science and master's degrees in industrial engineering from Purdue University, and a doctorate in industrial and systems engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
He has published more than 70 research appears in operations and industrial engineering literature.
The fee for the full-day workshop is $250, which includes seminar materials, handouts, coffee breaks, lunch and workbook. Topics during the course include a history and importance of quality in manufacturing and service systems; basic statistical concepts and summarizing data; basic structure of control charts and interpreting control charts; and the construction and use of various charts and diagrams.
