The Shawnee Boy Scouts Council has a new opportunity for boys and girls interested in law enforcement.

People ages 14 to 20 that have completed the eighth grade may participate in the new Boy Scouts Law Enforcement Explorer Post. There will be a First Nighter for Exploring event at 7 tonight in the Cape Girardeau Police Department's second-floor training room.

Leadership for the Law Enforcement Post will come from local police officers. Skills surrounding law enforcement and police work will be "explored" during monthly meetings.

As members of the greater St. Louis Law Enforcement Explorer Cluster, Explorers from the Cape Girardeau Post will be eligible to attend the Law Enforcement Training Academy at Maryville University in Town and Country this summer.
