SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City School Board has extended its food service contract with Opaa Food Management Inc. for the next school year, Superintendent Doug Berry said Thursday. SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City School Board has extended its food service contract with Opaa Food Management Inc. for the next school year, Superintendent Doug Berry said Thursday.

Berry also reminded the school board during its monthly meeting that the students' breakfast program will begin Monday, Feb. 6, under Opaa's direction.

In other new business, the board authorized Berry to solicit bids for one new school bus. Delivery would be expected before the beginning of the next school year.

-- Kindergarten, 94.5 percent, down 2.1 percent, from November with an enrollment of 75 students;

-- Grades 1 to 6, 95.3 percent, down .4 percent from November with an enrollment of 428 students;

-- Grades 7 to 12, 94.3 percent, up 1.3 percent from November with an enrollment of 455 students.

School board incumbents Kevin Hillemann, who works at Dana Corp. in Cape Girardeau, and Tom Anderson, Oran elementary principal, have both filed for re-election. Debbi Miller, wife of Mike Miller who owns Miller Drywall, has also filed for the three-year term.

Candidates may file in the school superintendent's office during regular business hours until Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. Two seats on the board will be decided in the April 4 election.
