Boy Scouts from the Shawnee District of Southeast Missouri will converge on Black Forest, north of Cape Girardeau, today for the annual Spring Jamboree.
Registration at Camporee headquarters will be held between 4 and 7:30 p.m. A meeting of adult leaders will be held at 9 tonight.
Opening flag ceremonies will be conducted Saturday at 8 a.m. and special Black Forest Games will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Entertainment Saturday night includes the Shady Mix Blue Grass Band. Members of the band include the Illinois champion banjo and fiddle players. Families of Scouters may attend the entertainment, which starts at the blacksmith shop area at 7:30 p.m.
Several activities are on schedule during the Camporee, including Scout skills, orienteering, wilderness survival, soil and water conservation, emergency preparedness and others.
Sunday morning worship services will be held for all faiths. The Camporee will end about 2 p.m. Sunday.
