BENTON -- For Scott County voters, there was no mystery Tuesday as to the winners of county offices.
All eight Democratic candidates for county offices ran unopposed.
As is usually the case in heavily Democratic Scott County, the August primary served as the real election night.
In the primary, three Democratic incumbents were defeated and three others successfully fought off challenges.
Tuesday night, voters merely made it all official.
Sheriff Bill Ferrell was re-elected, as were Second District Commissioner Joe Spalding and Coroner Scott Amick. Also re-elected were Public Administrator Sonny Alcorn and Surveyor C.R. "Buddy" Waters.
Sikeston businessman Walter E. Bizzell was elected as First District commissioner. Sikeston businesswoman and former school teacher Teresa Houchin was elected as assessor. Scott County Prosecuting Attorney David Dolan was elected as Division IV associate circuit judge.
Scott County voters backed the trend and supported Marilyn Williams for state representative, 159th district, over Terry Ernst.
