BENTON, Mo. -- A Sikeston-area man was arrested early New Year's Day after authorities responded to a report of a man shot in the chest with a pellet gun.
Andrew A. Clark, 33, of Salcedo, Mo., was being held Wednesday on $15,000 bond resulting from charges of first-degree burglary, second-degree assault and armed criminal action, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff Rick Walter said Clark forced entry into a Sikeston residence early Tuesday. The homeowner and Clark became involved in a struggle, resulting in the homeowner being shot, Walter said in the news release.
Clark fled the scene and was arrested a short time later by an assisting Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper.
Walter said deputies believe Clark was upset with the homeowner and went to the residence to scare him. The homeowner was treated for his injuries at the scene.
