Havco Wood Products, LLC in Scott City began a clean-up operation Tuesday afternoon, shortly after a silo fire was extinguished by Scott County fire departments.

Scott City and several other departments responded to the fire before the sun came up Tuesday after smoke was reported coming from one of the company's silos.

"We were storing sawdust from our operation in the silo," said Havco president Bruce Bader. The company manufactures wood flooring and other wood products.

As of 2:45 p.m., the fire had been put out, Bader added, and his staff was emptying the silo to ensure crews extinguished all of the embers.
