SCOTT COUNTY ASSESSOR ATTENDS CONFERENCE

BENTON -- Scott County Assessor Teresa M. Houchin attended the annual Assessors' Conference in Springfield. The conference is sponsored by the state tax commission and the state association of county assessors. It provides continuing education on practices and procedures.

Missouri law requires assessors to be certified by the state as fulfilling continuing education requirements.

Topics at the seminar included mediation options for appeal and plans for better coordinating property taxes and vehicle licenses Houchin said that it is important to have the opportunity to interact with other assessors and appraisal professionals.
