Scott City will dedicate about $37,000 worth of improvements to its city pool with a ceremony Saturday morning.
The improvements were paid for by a state grant, said Scott City Parks and Recreation Department director Phyllis Crump. The money paid for a new pool slide and a renovation of the pool house. Scott City's pool, located at the city park, was built in 1973.
The ceremony will start at 10 a.m., with demonstrations by the Cape Girardeau and Scott City fire departments' water rescue teams. A scuba diving demonstration will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Members of the Scott County Sheriff's Department will also be in attendance presenting information on child safety. Other activities will also be part of the ceremony. City officials will also speak at the dedication.
The pool will open to swimmers at 1 p.m., and will stay open throughout the summer, starting every day at 1 p.m.
