SCOTT CITY -- Missouri Community Betterment judges will be here today to consider the city's application in the annual awards program.
Edith Davidson, chairman of the local community betterment effort, hopes for a crowd of local supporters at the high school library from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This is the fifth consecutive year Scott City has participated in the program. The city has won awards each year, Davidson said.
Eight to nine people will make short presentations today on community activities over the past year. The three Missouri Community Betterment judges also will receive a scrapbook highlighting local programs.
Some of the topics will be the new site of Riverside Regional Library, cultural improvements, Mid-Summer Festival, the Buy Local Campaign and city growth relating to industry, police and fire departments, and the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority.
