SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Historic Preservation Commission invites anyone interested in organizing a museum in the area to attend its Monday meeting at 7 p.m. in the council chambers of the Scott City Hall.

The commission is a city-licensed organization that cannot be responsible for a museum.

Instead, interested persons must form a private, non-profit organization to establish a museum.

"If no one is interested, we will probably drop the whole thing," said Jeannine Schuenemeyer, a member of the historic preservation commission.

"We have people who contact us (the commission) all the time, wanting to donate books, photos and other historic memorabilia, but we can't handle that kind of thing.

"That's why we've decided to see what kind of interest Scott City has in starting its own museum," she continued. "We'll see who shows up and go from there."
