SCOTT CITY -- Robert E. Gardner Jr. of Scott City Troop 29 recently was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. SCOTT CITY -- Robert E. Gardner Jr. of Scott City Troop 29 recently was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

To earn the highest award in scouting, Gardner earned 24 merit badges and completed a service project at St. Francis Medical Center.

He organized a month-long volunteer program in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging section of the Department of Radiology at the medical center. He and volunteers spend almost 80 hours aiding patients and personnel.

Since joining Troop 29 in 1988, Gardner has earned the World Conservation Award, the Ad Altari Dei Award and the mile swim patch. He completed junior leader training and has served as quartermaster, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader and assistant senior patrol leader in this troop.

He is a freshman at Notre Dame High School and is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Gardner of Kelso.
