SCOTT CITY TEEN EARNS SCHOLARSHIP

SCOTT CITY -- Ralf David Emerson of Scott City is a bit more at ease about financing his college education since he attended Missouri Boys State. Emerson received the first $4,000 Missouri Boys State College Scholarship.

Emerson, who will be a senior at Scott City High School next year, was nominated "Citizen of the Week" by 60 other participants at the Boys State program. He was one of 16 citizens so honored; these young men were interviewed by the scholarship committee.

The scholarship is a $1,000 per year grant, renewable prior to each school year based on scholastic performance.

The Missouri Boys State program was held on the campus of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg June 12-19.
