The Scott City School Board on Tuesday voted to add a first-grade class at the district, bringing the total to four.
Beth Cox, president of the school board, said members looked at the number of incoming students and agreed the addition will keep class sizes small. A teacher will be hired to fill the position.
The district now will have four classes each for kindergarten, first and second grades, Cox said.
