SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Board of Education is accepting applications to fill the board vacancy resulting from the death of its past president, Gale Dale.
The board will accept applications until April 21.
Any Scott City R-1 School District resident for at least one year and who is at least 24 years of age may apply for the position by sending a letter stating their qualifications and reasons for wanting to be on the board.
The letter should be sent to board president Cathy Raines, Scott City R-1 School District, 3000 Main St., Scott City, Mo., 63780.
The Board will meet April 22 at 7:30 p.m. to examine the applications for board vacancy and to interview candidates for the position. The decision will be made at that time.
The selected person will serve until next April's board election.
The board met recently in special session to reorganize following the board elections of April 1. After certification of the election results, re-elected board member Nancy Caldwell and newly elected board member Rick Sample were sworn in to begin their three-year terms.
The board officers selected during the meeting were Cathy Raines, president; Debbi Miller, vice-president; Nancy Caldwell, secretary; and Kevin Hillemann, treasurer.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for April 16 at 6:30 p.m.
