SCOTT CITY - FC1 Sean Eifert of Scott City has been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.
The petty officer was presented the award by Capt. Brady at Naval Ordnance Station in Louisville, Ky. last month. The citation was signed by the Secretary of the Navy, J.P. Reason.
Eifert was recognized for "professional achievement in the superior performance of his duties while serving as the leading fire control technician on the USS La Moure County from December of 1986 to December of 1990."
During his four-years on the ship, the close-in-weapons system never failed to fire or hit a target, achieving an impressive annual operability average of 99.9 percent, said the Navy. He was also honored for his leadership aboard ship.
Eifert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Eifert of Route 1 Scott City. He is a 1984 graduate of Scott City High School. He recently re-enlisted for six years, after completing a six-year enlistment. He will be stationed at Navordsta in Louisville for the next three years.
