SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Kiwanis Club plans to honor area servicemen and women by building a red, white and blue pyramid in front of the Scott City Hall.

Don Roth, a spokesman for the club, said names of servicemen and women would be displayed on the six-foot-high pyramid with a four-foot-high rotating base.

"There will be flags at the base, and it will be lit up," Roth said. "We want to honor those who are fighting in Desert Storm."

The monument will be built in about a week, he said. The club is also looking for names of servicemen and women from Scott City, New Hamburg and Kelso to be displayed on the pyramid.

"We want to do everything we can to make sure we don't overlook anyone," he said.

Roth said those with relatives or friends who are serving in Operation Desert Storm should send the person's name, rank and branch of service to Roth at Roth's Hardware, 604 Main Street, Scott City, Mo. 63780, or call Roth at 264-2477.
