BENTON, Mo. -- A Scott City man on Tuesday was charged with multiple counts of statutory sodomy and child molestation.
According to a news release issued by Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, Robert Overbey, 45, was charged with nine counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and three counts of first-degree child molestation.
Walter said his office received a report from a local school regarding a student possibly being the victim of sexual abuse. Investigators believe Overbey had sexual contact with the victim in November. The alleged incidents occurred at Overbey's home in the rural Scott City area, Walter said.
Overbey was being held in the Scott County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
